Monarchs and Marigolds

The monarch’s arrival in Mexico coincides with Dia de los Muertos, and symbolizes the departed souls of loved ones. Often called “flowers of the dead,” (flor de muerto), the marigold’s fragrance and bright, cheery disposition lure the dead to celebrate with the living.
